Abobo was easy for me cause aside from a few special attacks that are telegraphed he does behave like a meatbag version of a regular enemy, unlike the spider girl or the incel on the roof. #2 it's a feature of beatemups where you can roam 8 way, getting yourself lined up on the right plane is part of the skill set, looping around badguys and letting them walk into your punches is a skill you develope, and tbh i found this one more forgiving. like for example, during the noize boss fight my character glitched and didn't appear in the arena, i had to force restart, but before i did I noticed that dude in the upper left of the audience losing his ♥♥♥♥ and laughed for like a minute straight and took a sec to admire the arena. It fixes a lot of small frustrations and while im not excusing wayforward for their weak ports(im still kinda pissed about shantae 1/2 genie hero ultimate not having cards/chives or just being an upgrade bundle, risky's revenge looks terrible scaled up, and the seven sirens times exclusivity, and i literally couldn't use the controller for player one without the above mod.) but there's enough charm for me to make the effort. Hearing all the positive reviews of this game make me feel like I'm going crazy. All I ever heard about this game is that "It brought back the beat-em-up genre" What and absolute load of ♥♥♥♥. I have to stress that most of the reason why I'm mad at this game is because I feel like I only ever hear good things about it. This is so ♥♥♥♥ing annoying especially when the bosses are so cheap to begin with.Ĩ.Why don't the characters level up together? I got about halfway through the game when I thought about switching characters just to mix things up and quell my frustrations at the game, only to find that if I wanted to, I would have to start back at level 1. Most bosses have around 3 cut scenes that have to be skipped through. You have to skip though all of the boss cut scenes every time you die. I spent around 10 min+ just walking around trying to see if it worked and found that it was absolutely useless.ħ. As far as I can tell, it doesn't do this at all. For instance, the false eyelashes are supposed to refill your ST when you walk around. The accessories in this game must be bugged out because it feels like none of them work. This is how you know that the devs must not have put in a lot of though into the design of this game.Ħ. Enemies scale to your level so there's no point. The level up system in the game is worthless. Also you can't escape boss fight and you never know when one might show up. This is especially a problem because you cant buy recovery items without money and the items have random effects and cost way more than they should. You will lose way more if you die in the late game when you're carrying around like 700$ after every boss. For instance dying with 185$ will leave you with $115 which by itself is a stupidly harsh punishment but thats not even that much money. This wouldn't be a problem if it was a set amount of money (ex: $30 or so), but it is always a percentage of whatever you have on you, and when you have over 200$ with you, it goes to absolutely absurd amounts. (This is the big one) Every time you die, you lose a significant amount of money. Bosses will constantly interrupt you mid combo and it is completely unclear which attacks are unblockable or not.Ĥ. ![]() Speaking of bosses, every single boss in this game with 2 exceptions is an absolute test in frustration. I missed at least every other time and took severe damage because of it.)ģ. (example: when fighting Abobo, his rock throwing attack can only be interrupted by hitting him. If your attack is even a single pixel off in either direct you will absolutely whiff and in lots of cases, it is devastating. Throughout the entire game I had problems just hitting enemies that were above or below. This is an absolute problem and it is completely inexcusable. I don't care what anybody else says on this one. The problem with the foreground is absolutely game breaking. That is just lazy design and it makes me think that nobody play tested this game.Ģ. There is no reason that the buttons used to pick up items, leave areas, and use one of your 2 main attacks, should ALL BE THE SAME. The game had good reviews, an interesting concept, great graphics, art direction and music.īut nearly immediately I felt all sorts of problems with the gameplay.ġ. Everything about it from the outset looked promising.
